Mog Aggregation Challenge - The Beatles "Abbey Road"

Posted about 1 year ago

I thought I'd try something a little different for this MAC. I figured The Beatles are probably the most covered band, so rightfully, one should be able to put together a whole album just with covers by other artists. I figured Abbey Road might be a challenge since it is made up of a second side that is essentially 2 "medley's" of 8 different songs. I think it might just be pure pop genius, on the fab four parts. Each song part has me wanting to hear more. It was no easy feat, and I gues I cheated a little with putting in two performance for the Medley songs, but you really can't break them up.

The Mog Aggregation challenge is really about challenging yourself and the interweb!

My apologies for the hinkiness of the formating. I'm not sure what's up. Enjoy the music!

Come Together - Sound Garden

Yeah, we all have heard the Aerosmith version a hundred times, try this one on for size.

SeeqPod - Playable Search

Something - James Brown

Does James make it his own? Not sure, but it is a very liberal interpretation.

Maxwell's Silver Hammer - Jack Wild

Child Actor Jack Wild (of Oliver! and H.R. Puffenstuff fame) takes on this Beatles classic. Methinks Sid and Marty Kroft were not the best influence on this kid.

Oh! Darling - by WS64

On Ukele of course!

Octopus's Garden - The Muppets

How utterly perfect.

I Want You (She's So Heavy)- Eddie Hazel

As someone who isn't a guitarist, I wonder if Harrison's chops on the original was an open invitation to other guitar slingers. Well, Mr. Hazel, the floor is yours.

Here Comes the Sun - Belle and Sebastian

Pretty spot on, accept for the Scottish accents.

Because - Elliott Smith

A suitable track for Mr. Smith's dreamy harmonies.

You Never Give Me Your Money/ Sun King/ Mean Mr. Mustard/ Polythene Pam/ She Came In Through The Bathroom Window - WastedYouth

I got nothing on this band, but this was one of the hardest clips to find out of all of them.

Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End - Neil Diamond

Yep. Neil. That's show biz right there.

Her Majesty - Christopher Hintz

proving my point that every track on this album has been covered, even this little diddy.

very cool idea, and this would make a great cd. A few years ago Uncut put out a disc of all beatle covers and I picked up the magazine just because of the cd. A few of the artists on it were Billy Bragg, Teenage Fanclub, Echo and the Bunnymen, Joe Cocker and the Damned. The whole cd is pretty fun, it still gets listened to quite often
