...Cuz it's Jimmy Jetson, and the Torpedoes Too! (RIP Bruce Bogle)

To counter balance the news of Ventures guitarist Bob Bogle dying, I would like to remeniss about simpler times and my connection to one of the greatest TV theme songs of all time, Hawaii Five-O. I was 4 years younger than my brother and cousin, who watched the show religously every day in the summer, as it was in syndication. I never watched the show too much, maybe I was too young and just didn't have the attention span. But I did love the begining. A huge tube of a wave with one of the fastest drum beats I'd ever heard!

Needless to say, I was probably 3 or 4 and all I can remember is my brother and cousin singing the words "Cuz it's Jimmy Jetson, and the torpedoes too, well it's Jimmy Jetson and Princess Moo!" to the tune, Hawaii Five-O. I gotta say, it was one of the best intros to a show, and probably one of the best uses of stock footage ever.

I don't think I knew the proper name of the show for some years, but when I became aware of surf music, The Ventures were added to my collection along with the fond memories of the effects of a song that Bogle and the boys could have never imagined. Thanks Bruce, thanks for a sound that's often imitated, but never duplicated.
