Spaghetti Junction - Outkast

Is pretty much the bane of your existance, if you live in Atlanta, or (god forbid!) are forced to commute into Atlanta from north of the city. The wikipedia entry claims it was built to relieve congestion, but anyone who has sat in traffic in Atlanta knows that it does anything but that. Saddest part is it becomes your first point of refference of the city when traveling south. A mess of over passes and under passes - enough to get you a little queasy in parts from the sheer height. It's a civil engineering nightmare and a part of life in the dirty south.

From Wikipedia:

I-85 is a major traffic corridor from the northeastern suburbs of Atlanta in the Gwinnett County area into downtown Atlanta. I-285 is a beltway around Atlanta. In the northern I-285 corridor, in the area from I-85 counterclockwise to I-75, there has been a large amount of development of office space. Spaghetti Junction was designed to remove choke points and reduce congestion in the I-85 and I-285 interchange, which had been a cloverleaf.[1]

I drove to Atlanta once and it was a nightmare.  It was also late when I got there and 6 in the morning when I left but trying to figure out where we were going was insanity.  Dallas is a lot like this.  A never ending sea of cloverleafs and on/off ramps that circle up 10 stories with multiple exits.

Heh. There's also a spaghetti junction in Minneapolis -- it was said that  the guy that designed it had a nervous breakdown just after finishing it.
