Well smack me outside the head and tell me it's 1997! I discovered a group from a print magazine - and it was Time Magazine of all places. It might help that these two were produced by Manu Chao, but this couple has been making music for years.
I haven't heard much more than these two tracks, as their album is slated for a March 21st release.
Aparently "Amadou grew up as the biggest Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple fan in Bamako, and while he knows how to mimic the sounds of a kora and slip into high-stepping township jive, he's most at home using African styles to flavor rock melodies."
Damon Albarn guests on "Sabali", but from listenening, I personally can't hear it, but Amadou and Miriam's music is a bit new to me so I really don't know how to disect the song upon hearing it.

Below you should find a Seeqpod playlist with "Sabali" off of Welcome To Mali and "Beki Miri" off of Tje Ni Mousso

I love this group. Each tune has a different angle, a different sound. This, and the album by Esau Mwamwaya, are currently two of my favorite World Music picks! very nice!
Thats great, got a good bit of guts to it, thanks
Between you and Cody and your magnificent Afro-posts this week, you've knocked all the toxic out of Tuesday...
