Remembering Squirt TV

There have been a few times in my life when I wished I was someone else - mostly as an awkward, grossly under developed teenager. I have to admit to loving the premise of the "Waynes World" sketch on SNL. The sketch single handedly put the idea in my head that it really would be easy to run a TV show out of your basement. I tried it on a much smaller and poorer production level, and let me tell you it isn't easy. The tapes have thankfully been lost. I still cringe today whent I think of someone finding them in a thrift store and posting them on YouTube under the title "Ha Ha Look at this Dork!"
Needless to say when I was introduced to "Squirt TV" by MTV, it was after it had already existed as a NYC phenomena, gracing Manhattan's Public Access Television. Jake Fogelnest was 14 years old when he hosted Squirt TV from his bedroom, where he would interview rock luminaries such as The Beastie Boys, Weezer, Joey Ramone, Wesley Willis from his bedroom. I even remember The Wu-Tang Clans Genius/GZA performing right there in his bedroom (but couldn't find it on YouTube - didn't really bother either).
Jake didn't have much to worry about from me, because he obviously was one of those personalities that seems like he was born to be in front of a camera, and I wasn't. Today Jake is a comedian and (according to his Bio) has a radio program on Sirius Radio called Left of Center, and has been a regular on VH1's "I Love The..." programs.
