I was a bit upset upon learning that Cody will be gone from MOG. I'm still nursing hopes that he'll return after finding whatever balance he needs. But I also understand needing to be away.
In his honor (I believe his last post and comments were on lovers and jilted lover soul tracks and it is/was his thang anyway) a cut from a fabulous album that I am very late to. I was fairly surprised to learn that the Mogosphere has given very little love to this act as well - one post from 2007.
It's good, but this isn't the best cut on the record, I'll come back in comments with my faves, but it is SUTC, right. It's funny how quickly I am lost without CB, since I am inclined to say somewhat somplistically this is a cover of Isaac Hayes, but I'll bet CB could tell us the origin of the song with authority.

Yeah, what can I say. There have been quite a few fantastic moggers that have left over the past two years I have been on here. The dizzying heights of such a knowledgeable and friendly community can lead to some dramatic exits. Death, disgust with the business plan and priorities of the directors, general feeling of imbalance all come to mind. The community is nice, but it is no substitute for things that are more personal. So as for me, never a dramatic exit, but always staying within touch to drop in. I also think a lot of people are feeling the sqeeze lately and are just working hard in the real life world. Thanks for the tune. I know this group by name and a few singles.
BTW I think Cody will se around for a bit.
El Michaels Affair - Yennicita
I thought Mog ate my post so I am late on posting additional stuff in comments. I really like this cut on the record. The horns keep it mostly upbeat, but there's something a little sad there too. Also really like the guitar work towards the end.
I am hoping Cody will be back when things chill for him. You make a good point Oatmeal with the intense buyin this site/place gets, the exits will seem quite dramatic and we all gotta get our work on to keep making a living in these times.
Baudolino came back/stayed and I am hopeful things will play similary with Cody B. Speaking of Baudolino, this track from El Michaels might be more his speed. "Ocho Rios" features some ska inflected horns and guitar and sports some really nice strings just after the intro. This tune moves.
Good stuff. You are EMCD'in me again.
