WE DO THE MASHED POTATO AND THE FUNKY CHICKEN

The '90s.

Posted over 3 years ago
As of late, I've been getting pleasure out of living through my childhood again through music. It seems like every time I hear a song that I remember from that time period, my mind becomes awash in happy memories. Has that lovely, euphoric feeling ever taken you over while listening to older music?

  1. gympumpkin says Definitely. There are some songs I loved as a kid that, if they were released now, I would hate because they were just bad. But I still love them, and they still make me happy, because they remind me of good times in grade school or high school.

  4. Heli0tr0pe says Something from 10 years ago referred to as "older music"...god, that's scary.

  5. Dave says Of course, but echoing Heliotrope.... I guess it was bound to happen eventually. Nostalgia for the "good old days" of 1998? Nostalgia is the only reason I like bad music! But mine is around 1971 - 1978.

  6. Marco1019 says I had such a *HUGE* crush on Justine Frischmann...lol. I love _Connection_. I also like _Stutter_ a lot. I saw Elastica perform at Lollapalooza back in '95. They played a good set & certainly did not disappoint the crowd.

  7. Manos says Hells yes. I have a "Memories" playlist in iTunes, and giving it a shuffle always takes me back. I won't tell you how old I am, but here's a clue from that very playlist: Starland Vocal Band - Afternoon Delight

  8. condescendingfool69 says Sad to think of the '90s as "old music", huh? It's even weirder to think that I was anywhere from 5 to 10 when most of it came out. And now, I'll be 20 in two-and-a-half years. I can only imagine how hippies feel...

  9. Dale says But Elastica is *NOT* bad music! And yes, I was about 25 when that album came out. Never mind me, I'll pick up my cane and amble outta here.

  10. Heggs says I wasn't implying that Elastica was bad music, I think they are totally awesome! Most music that we like because of memories isn't bad music but oh bad music is usually liked because of memories.

  12. raithrover says Still got a soft spot for INXS up to Kick. Doesn't fit in with the rest of my taste but well crafted especially Don't Change and Listen Like Thieves! Must dig em out again!
