WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

All Things Reconsidered

Posted over 3 years ago
So the last few times I've listened to the bit of Secret Machines' music that I've acquired I haven't been too impressed...but mixed in with the rest of the stuff I'm test-driving, Lightning Blue Eyes really struck me. It's really catchy and just fun to listen to. Now Here Is Nowhere is the song that got my attention in the first place, and it's pretty good, too, if a little long and repetitive.p.s. the title is a phish reference...you should listen to phish...no, really!

  1. max says never been a secret machines fan, is that album worth checking out or should i really just do a track by track thing?

  2. coconuts says I actually don't have the album, just a few tracks here and there. I don't really like most of their stuff that much, but it's fun to listen to if I'm in the right mood.

  3. backstagebethy says They are a lot more fun to listen to if you've seen them live. They blow me away every time, and now I can't hear Sad and Lonely without feeling like I'm standing in a sunset, remembering a certain set of theirs.

  4. coconuts says yeah, I feel like their sort of music would be much more engaging in a live context. I'm a huge phish fan, and as cool and weird their studio stuff is, it can't even come close to the entirely overwhelming experience of hearing them live. I never really learned to appreciate their longer, more rambling songs like You Enjoy Myself or ACDC Bag until I saw them performed live.
