Learn To Sing Like a Star - Kristin Hersh

"Kristin Hersh":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kristin_Hersh played an acoustic solo set, Thursday at Easy Street Records on Mercer in Seattle, which included a few songs from her new release and great versions of couple of favorites of mine, from early solo albums, Ghost and Your Dirty Answer.Easy St. Records, Seattle, Feb. 22, 2007 (posted by +this.nik+, more with other "KH photos on flikr":http://www.flickr.com/search/?q=kristin+hersh&s=rec)She was literally on her way to start a big tour in Europe and had come via KEXP's studio where Rachel (sitting-in for Kevin Cole) had about an hour to for questions and about 6 songs. Perhaps it was rediscovering the cathartic qualities of cascading power chords with her new band, 50 Foot Wave, or simply a concerted effort to make something more memorable, but Learn to Sing Like a Star is both a triumphant return to the ragged beauty of her earlier work and a willful expansion of her palette. As introspective as ever, but never self-pitying, Hersh delivers lines like "Getting up is what hurts" with a fresh sense of conviction that hints at an artist getting ready to hit a second high-water mark. 1. Zeroskilz says I was really pleasantly surprised by this album; as have several other Moggers. I'm not a big fan of hers, but I really like a few things that she has done. Listerine is one of the most moving songs I've ever heard.
