The music of Australian band, CODA (not to be confused with the defunct Mexican band of the same name) is often described as a soundscape to a fantastical dream. CODA's music consistently transcends boundaries, and is a compelling mix of classical, far-eastern, rock and electronica. This collective of classically trained musicians performs with mastery, dressed in quirky headwear and outfits that transport audiences to a magical world.

CODA's performances are always uplifting cinematic musical experiences, often enhanced with theatrics, dance and costumes, making them one of the most innovative and visually spectacular music acts around.
CODA offers a unique musical approach fusing classical strings with contemporary music. CODA has successfully toured nationally and internationally for the past twelve years. CODA strings have performed, recorded and toured with a myriad of artists ranging from Powderfinger, Superjesus, Leonardo's Bride, paulmac, Pollyanna, Savage Garden, Antenna, Jonathan Richman and Pnau to name just a few.

CODA has never been afraid of pushing themselves to dizzy heights and their third album, 'Calling Mission Mu' sees these talented musicians take their rich mix of sounds to a different place. The trademark strings are there, as is the fluid composition that has always weaved CODA's many inspirations into such a seamless trip.

Now with Calling Mission Mu, deep rhythms, luscious grooves and solid beats give CODA's sound the edge and drama of electronic acts such as Red Snapper or Cinematic Orchestra. But as ever, CODA's creations have a flavour all of their own. This album has the sonic flow of another world you can get lost in.

You can tell they're clasically trained musicians just by listening to these tracks J. There's an orchestral panorama to both of these, and I can imagine a glut of Film Directors would like to use their music. I wonder if they have done soundtrack work before?

wow, I am an instant fan. sad I have never heard of them, but I will definitely make up for that quickly. cipher, I nominate you for EMCD.

Jammy, they've also performed for over 600 schools over the past five years for Musica Viva which is a program to bring classical music to schools. Don't know whether they've done film scores - none that I know of - but it certainly reeks of film soundtrack material to me. They have also done fashion shows for high profile designers and played at a vast array of different types of music festivals, as well as playing at the Sydney Opera House.
Mish, glad you like. This album, and one of their previous ones, 'For Our Animal Friends' are available on eMusic.
