underground hip hop road trippin #7: ohio

Posted about 5 years ago
this week, we're headed to columbus, ohio.soul position is blueprint and super-producer, rjd2. they've made a couple of albums together (things go better with rj and al & 8 million stories) with the unlimited ep that started it all off.blueprint also has a couple of solo records, most recently he released 1988 (2005).after two amazing albums, rjd2 has 'left' the hip hop genre. on his third album, the third hand (2007), he delves into other genres and actually picks up a mic and sings - and i'm not feelin' it one bit. i want the deadringer rj back!i know i'm not going to fill up this damn map (that i copped from samthebutcher) but i thought it might look kind of cool to see the progress...

  7. Hermes says Well, I'm prepared now. By the way: there's a instrumentalist named "Zenit" from Berlin, who produces pretty similar stuff. Reminds me very often of RJD2 and sometimes of DJ Shadow. I'll post something of him later.

  8. chulsmith says michelle ::: totally agree with you - his first two albums are spot on. blair ::: columbus has some good stuff. copywrite is from there, too. kevin ::: i got the ep and 8 million stories when they came out, but i wasn't feeling blueprint's flow until recently. and by recently, i mean in the last six months. p ::: yeah, same thought process i went through. but i downloaded it before it came out. i mean i didn't download it before it came out. i was hearing the tracks and was wondering if the file was labeled wrong or something. hermes ::: looking forward to hearing zenit. and yeah, check out the rest of my posts. i'll be hitting more states in the coming weeks (and even going overseas at some point).
