+44 / The Tommys Preview

tonight, i'm going to the +44 show at l'elysees montmartre. now you're probably thinking one of the following:+44 = blink 182 _light_+44 = angels and airwaves (ava) = blink 182tom delonge is an egomaniac (because of the way he promoted his new band, ava)travis barker sold out (because of his mtv show and his recent tabloid publicity)+44 and blink 182's fanbase is half your agewell, maybe the last three are true. i became a fan when their dude ranch lp came out and have been underwhelmed (i love that word and will use it extensively - until i die) by their releases since - except for take off your pants and jacket - love it.anyway, scouring the internet trying to find out who the opening act is, i found out that it's an all girl 3-piece called "the tommys":http://www.myspace.com/thetommysband. they're from the uk and have been compared to the likes of hole and l7. listening to their tunes on myspace, i'm not overly impressed but apparently, they have a really good live show. here are myths that i'm going to try to dispel:the tommys = the donnasthe tommys = hole and/or l7the tommys suck livethe tommys aren't as cute as their myspace page alludes tohas anyone seen either of these bands live? or even care about this post?show review to follow...
