WHERE MUSIC IS WORTH MORE THAN MONEY

Artist:
Album:
Track:

You know when you want to to cry but you don't and you get that pinch right under the bridge of your nose? That's what this song did to my twice on Tuesday.

The first time it happened I was watching Sunday's episode of Brothers & Sisters which I had recorded. Near the end all the various characters are having "meaningful moments" and this song is playing in the background. It blended seamlessly from the tender moments some were having to the bitter moments others were having. It caught my attention right away and made those scenes alot more poignant than I think they'dve been otherwise.

The second time was a few hours later and I was reading a book and my husband was watching Just Like Heaven, that movie where Reese Witherspoon is on life support and her spirit is haunting some guy. At the very end of the movie, when she wakes up and doesn't recognize him (although he's fallen in love with her) this song starts playing.

Twice in one day and I figured it was a sign so I bought the song. I will save it for a day when I feel the need to let it all out. I'll put a video in the comments for anyone who needs a good cry tonight.

Funny you should mention that...

Actually, that did come up today. Cept she said it joking that I'd call her that if she did something, I told her I'd save it for later in the relationship.

That was before I made her sore at me. :^(

SM - yeah, it wasn't bad. I found myself being sucked into even though I was reading. DM - what? She didn't give you any points for saving it until later? Go tell her you deserve some points. Heh.

Elton John, m'dear. And not come down hard on ya, DM, but throwing the B word out there, even in jest, is always a bad idea.

you know, the more i watch regina spektor, the more she feels like tori amos to me. only, in my opinion, so much better. [regina's] voice is just...it's like a soft pierce, if that makes sense. have you seen her live?

I think there's only one song that ever made me cry. But last night I was in a mood and listened to copious amounts of Toad The Wet Sprocket. Didn't make me cry, almost, but in a good way. :)

songs have never made me cry either, lemon. but there are definitely songs that kind of make my heart swell, either with joy or sorrow.

chucky, i wonder if you would have cried to this song if it weren't for the visual and the narrative behind them? interesting to think about.

i also wonder sometimes if certain movies that make me cry would have done so if the music were stripped from the scene.

music and visuals are pretty amazing together sometimes.

Lemontwist's mention of Toad The Wet Sprocket takes me back to the early nineties and their classics Walk On The Ocean and Something's Always Wrong...which remind me of 10,000 Maniac's masterpiece Our Time In Eden, which contains the incredible How You've Grown...which can make me weep like an orphan at Christmastime.

Lemon and eshep - it's pretty easy for music to make me cry. I think the scenes helped in this case, but I'm a musical bawler.

Rei - Walk on the Ocean, I loved that song so much. It has probably also made me cry. Heh.
