authority zero concert

The Authority Zero concert last night was pretty f’ing great. (Hell, even my husband liked it and he is notoriously hard to please.) We missed the first two bands that played, which turned out to be a local band that wasn’t listed on the line-up and Patent Pending. But, we got inside in time to see Tokyo Rose. Everything sounds better live I think, so they weren’t bad. I hit the merch table and picked up a sweet AZ hoodie and got an EP that has 3 songs that are going to be on their upcoming album. After Tokyo Rose, Authority Zero played. I got a nice spot to the left side of the stage (right in front of the speakers, whoops) and had my husband on camera duty. They played: One More Minute, Revolution, Painted Windows, Rattlin Bog, Superbitch, A Passage in Time, Sky’s The Limit, Taking on the World, and one song I didn’t know. I felt bad for them because NoVA is just not a rocking place. Each time I’ve seen them (this would be the third) they always try to get the crowd to mosh or skank and the crowd never does. I certainly didn’t – I am much too fragile and way too old. That’s not to say I didn’t dance – I danced my little ass off. I danced and I screamed and I pumped my little fists. Basically, I made an ass out of myself and it felt good.I was expecting them to come out into the crowd when their set was over, like they did the other times I saw them, but no such luck. That means I didn’t even have a chance of getting my picture with them and a mog postcard. That was a bummer, but whateva. The bonus of the evening is that they were done by 11:00 and we didn’t bother to stay for Zebrahead.I have pictures but we can’t figure out how to get them off the phone yet, as they don’t seem to be on the memory card – but as soon as I get them off I’ll post them.
