WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Get Off My Lawn

Posted over 3 years ago
This has been an ego bruising week for me. First the lady at the gas station wouldn't look at my ID because she said anyone who had that hard of a time getting out their license must be over 21. Then I found out a very good friend of mine makes almost as much money as my husband and I combined. Then, this morning, as I am walking out the door for work I notice that The Today Show is playing a GnR video. WTF? Well, as it turns out, GnR's Appetite for Destruction was "born" the same year as this year's incoming college freshmen. There are people - young adults - for whom GnR is as old as they are. I don't need this shit.OK kiddos. Since some of you were not born when this song came out or were very young - enjoy.

  2. watchbatteries says I may be a college freshman, but I know of GnR and Welcome to the Jungle and what have you. Not going to lie, GnR is not a favorite musical group of mine. College has been crazy here, what with the first power outage in forever (Saturday) and classes being cancelled in the afternoon (Monday) because of an escaped convict.

  3. chucky says Anit-Amy - c'mon, be cranky with me. I know all about what you like - tell me about something you don't like.;) watchbatteries - yeah, I heard about the escaped convict on the news. I'd have been scared. They did catch him right?

  6. LambCurry666 says Hahaha. I'm old enough that I had the tape when it came out. That was and is a great crossover record.

  7. chucky says Agreed on The Doors and Nirvana, for the most part. As for the husband - it only takes a few beatdowns before they learn. Haha. Yep - I had the tape too. I didn't buy my first cd until 1994 or so.

  8. Moof says Pffft... you're my age, Chucky, and _I'm_ not old. You couldn't pay me to be a teenager, again, and I essentially feel the same as I did when I was in my 20s. So it's all good.

  9. Anonymous says You'd think after 14 years of marriage I'd have him trained by now. ehhh

  10. chucky says Moof you are right. What gets me is that I don't feel like I've gotten old(er) but then I see stuff like that this morning and I realize that I actually am older and I feel like time is passing by too quickly. Anti-Amy - I don't really think they are trainable. But wouldn't it be nice if you could swat them on the butt with a newspaper and they'd do what they were told?

  11. Moof says "But wouldn’t it be nice if you could swat them on the butt with a newspaper and they’d do what they were told?" Hrm. I'm caught somewhere between an offended gasp and a hearty chuckle. My wife and I had a great marriage and I tried my best for her, but I'm sure there were times when she felt the same way.
