So THAT'S "Little Jackie"

Knocked out to see Imani Coppola again on "Later" ..the "Little Jackie" stuff is great ..funny and sassy .. Like "Santogold" most recently, this is the sort of "eclectic" stuff that alwways grabs me..I think the humour is a big element. The "Later" line-up had three acts that complimented each other well.."The Streets" and "SeaSick Steve" really did dovetail into each other..and "Little Jackie" under-cut with the humour and sheer exuberance...

The 1997 album is more overtly whacky, think "De La Soul"with some more obvious "left-field" influences. "legend of a cowgirl" samples "Sunshine Superman" by Donovon...hip-hop beats down "Sesame St " in "Karma and the Blizzard" like Laurie Anderson joined "the Fugees "..whereas..

"Little Jackie" ,although heavy on the irony..could be taken purely at face value musically, then,as you check it out it resembles ,i dunno urbane not "urban" Jennifer Lopez with a sense of humour?..
