Loved this a month ago..just out ,in the same week that Michael Jackson's back-catalogue took the charts by storm..Dying was always a good career move, especially if you have massive debts."somebody" probably said that.in reference to Elvis Presley maybe.
As eighties retro goes, they dont come much catchier than this ..you can sing "Dont Go" by "Yazoo" along to it...and i mean that as a compliment. Along with the retro influences, this hits all the ephemeral "Pop" buttons for me. First few listens and the pure audacity of the chorus hook grabs you, while repeated plays reveal sharply delivered verses There is some ear-wiping Vocoder on the bridge, which steers into Daft Punk territory, but the chorus is a harmony/multi-track creation. She's got a good voice.. "Musical Marmite"...my flavour of the summer.

She's growing on me. But Vince Clark must have been calling his lawyer the first time he heard this. :-)
It's an homage in some ways surely...
Jonh do you ever listen to the Word magazine podcast?... Paul Du Noyer was on this week with a new book out "In the City" (Jam fans ears prick up) Music in London, over the years...mention of the "Crawdaddy Club" at the Station Hotel Richmond ,early hang-out for the Rolling Stones, Yardbirds etc got me trawling through your brilliant "Rock Shrines" pages to find it. I take my javascript hat off to you for putting that together.
We played the "Rock Garden" quite a few times. I love the way the Google St view link takes you straight to that oh so familiar corner...i will try to direct some other listeners to "Rock Shrines".
No, I never think to listen to it. Too busy etc etc. But this one sounds fascinating and the book as well. Thanks for the big up on 'Rock Shrines'. Now I'm feeling guilty as I have about 10 to do and just not getting disciplined enough to get them out.
