hi all,
i've just bought "new moon", the unreleased songs album of elliott smith.
i already knew some of the songs (angel in the snow, riot coming, going nowhere, placeholder, half right...) thanks to www.elliottsmithbsides.com (website with all his demo or b-side tracks) but that's so great to listen to elliott smith again... but so sad, to remind that i couldn't see him playing live again...
there're other/early versions of 2 awesome songs : miss misery and pretty mary k, see you later...
some of his friends wrote some stuffs about him in the cd booklet, i will read it tonight i think...
other good news : the great photographer and elliott's friend : autumn de wilde (www.autumndewilde.com) has made a book with pictures and with notes of other friends and musicians he knew...
"LIFE IN PICTURES
As a sort of visual complement to "New Moon," Chronicle Books plans a November release for "Elliott Smith," a photo book compiled by Autumn De Wilde.
The 200-plus-page volume features De Wilde's numerous live and promotional snapshots of the musician, such memorabilia as handwritten lyrics and interviews with family, friends and admirers like Ben Gibbard (Death Cab for Cutie), Sam Coomes (Quasi), Matthew Caws (Nada Surf), Jon Brion and Ashley Welch (Smith's sister).
The book also includes a five-song, solo acoustic live CD, recorded over several nights at Los Angeles' Largo. The previously unreleased set consists of "Between the Bars," "Angeles," "Clementine," a cover of Quasi's "Clouds" and Hank Williams Jr.'s "All My Rowdy Friends Have Settled Down." "

hi readers !
last night i've seen for the 2nd time (1st time was few years ago) the great and amazing Shannon Wright !
she began her show by playing piano, alone on stage, then her bearded drummer and bass player joined her...
i'm really impressed by her, her music speaks for her, she's living it, and she seems so "spellbound",possessed when she plays...
her new lp is amazingggggggggggggggggggg !!!
really run to see her !
(i will add a pix to this post...)

i love music as i love photography, few years ago i decided to mix these 2 hobbies i try to be a music photographer, this "expression" is TOO big for me,coz i'm not professional, so i'm just try to make live pictures of bands that i like. i built my own website : www.magaliefonteneau.com
hope you'll enjoy it ...

genial! i've wanted to do this for a long time. unfortunately, it's hard to get passes to bring in a "professional" camera to shows in the states. but now that i'm in paris, do you know the policies of the venues? i've been to a number and have just my point and shoot camera because i don't want to get to a show and not get let in because i have my "stuff". thanks for the website!
