The Post Who Loves Yngve
About couple months ago in the IF (Istanbul Independent Film Festival) I got to see this brilliant Norwegian film called "Mannen Som Elsket Yngve" (The Man Who Loved Yngve). An adapdation of the same titled book by Tore Renberg.
A group of high school friends living life on the edge with music and love. There are spot on references on 80s post-punk and also political movements. Beyond of all there rises a cotton soft story of love between more than two people.
For all those into movies, I do recommend this piece but the point I am writing this post is the music flowing through the feature all along. From Joy Division to Buzzcocks; The Jesus & Mary Chain to Pixies; Happy Mondays to Soft Cell; The Cure to The Stone Roses; Japan to Blaupunkt, Iggy Pop to Violent Femmes; Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds to REM.... it is like a cult mixture back from 70s-80s. Also several top Norwegian post / punk bands flavoring the film at its riot-est!
Although the genuine star of the movie is Mathias Rust Band with no confusion. But who are Mathias Rust Band; just a fictional band formed by the main characters in the original book. And the tunes they perform in the film were written by the incredible Kaizers Orchestra's Geir Zahl and John Erik Kaada.
Crazy youngsters nailing it on the stage through the anarchic lyrics. Fittesatan Anarkikommando! Fully upspirit!

Here is another one from Mathias Rust Band. Don't let the mellowness distract you. Fiction can't beat their genuine crazyness.
