Hey Lloyd, Let's Get Out of This Country

Let's Get Out of The Country baaaarely missed my list for best album of '06 - largely because I already had one precious,
Glasgow-based band with a phenomenal album there already, and my tolerance for precious is pretty thin...But, then I saw Camera Obscura a few weeks ago, and now I'm wishing I'd have given them more of a chance when I'd reviewed my album list. The group's heavy reliance on organ and singer Traceyanne Campbell's dainty vocals can come off a bit lightweight when listening to the album. In concert, babble between songs in her nearly indecipherable Scottish brogue is totally winning and more importantly, the songs really benefit from Kenny McKeeve's virtuoso guitar playing - it sounded like Lucky Charms peppered with some curry powder. Here's "Hey Lloyd, I'm ready to be Heartbroken" - written in response to English singer
Lloyd Cole's challenge: 'Are You Ready to be Heartbroken?'
