Godspeed, Dan

Posted about 1 year ago
Dan Fogelberg was my earliest and biggest influence, the man I wanted to be when I picked up a guitar and started trying to write songs. Anyone who thinks all he gave us was insipid soft rock only heard the overplayed '70s and '80s hit, but there was more, much more. The first concert I ever paid my own money for was to see him, and I dragged my mom and sister along with me.The news was far from unexpected, but it makes me sad nonetheless. A big piece of my musical childhood is gone.

  1. LibraryGuy says I saw Dan live 4 times, and never tired of hearing his stories (both in song and between songs). I'm not sure how he'll be remembered by the ages, but he was a great troubador and I'm glad that I'm not the only one who wanted to be like the man that he was. Thanks for your thoughts - there are others of us who'll miss him too. I gave my son the middle name Daniel in tribute. He's 14 now and doesn't find much to like in Fogelberg's music, but I have hopes for someday! Fare well and keep Dan's memory alive, Dave
