Their last full length album, "The Cage Was Unlocked All Along", was a wonderful madcap rollercoaster ride of twee pop. The tunes were upbeat, the lyrics quite good. It was one of my favorite albums of the last few years. That kind of lowered my expectations for "Propeller vs. Wings", it would be a lot to ask that they could come up with another album of the same quality.

I shouldn't have worried. Propeller versus Wings is different, certainly, as it should be. But the lyrics are still wonderful and the tunes sunny and bright. I would say they were going for a slightly harder sound in some places with this album with songs like The Cake and Eating It, Robot Tyrannosaur, and You Told The Drunls I Knew Karate. But then there's quiter, more intimate stuff like Sackville Sun and Escape Maps. In the end this is a very satisfying album.
