Billy Idol was my first exposure to any incarnation of punk at the tender age of I don't know, 4 - 7. Dropping my GI Joes or He-Men, I used to pump my fist at the MTV, mimmicking my first "idol" and cry out with a rebel yell every time he graced our old cabinet-style tv set. Anyway, this supplied the foundation for my further love of rock, punk and anything in between. He stold the show in the Sandler flick and it's great to see he's still at it, even if it's a well-timed Christmas album. Rock it, Billy!

  4. goodmusiconly says When I was 15 I had an unbearable crush on Billy Idol. I thought he was a god. My parents were taking a trip to England that year and asked if I wanted to come along, or stay at home with my older brothers. I turned them down cold. Why, you may ask? Billy Idol was coming to Red Rocks that summer, and I wasn't going to miss it for all the tea in Denmark. This, of course, was the wrong answer. My mother was aghast that I would turn down such a wonderful offer. I eventually got my wits about me and decided that a trip to England would be a much better life choice. So I went. But not without reservation. As it turned out, my best friend went to the show, crashed the stage, and ended up in the live Rebel Yell video with Billy licking her fingers in a most disturbing way. I'm proud to say I have since overcome my crush ... but last year I got a phone call from my brother: "I got free tickets to see Billy Idol and you're coming with me." I weighed my decision carefully ... I mean, I'm no spring chicken after all. Eyes Without a Face no longer made me swoon. I pondered: could I ever be seen in public again after seeing Billy Idol live when I was in my 30s? At any rate my curiosity got the best of me, and I went to the show, indulging in my dying teenage wish 20 years too late. It was actually a great show. And I have to admit, Billy looked damn fine. I openly admit that I will be buying this album, if for no other reason than a good chuckle, and a trip down memory lane. Billy Idol is the new Bing, I love it. Rock on, Billy!
