U2 NLOTH: One track review

Posted about 3 years ago

Intro tracks almost always are great tracks.

There are exceptions but the rule stands.

This title track & intro track, NLOTH is blowing me away like no other U2 song past or present has had the ability to do.

Sometimes simple, silly and sexy but always compelling sing-along lyrics.

A perfect companion to the sound.

When the band and its critics, bloggers and MOGers talk about this album being "sonically different," this is what they are referring to.

Edge & Clayton's borderline industrial-heavy fuzzed guitar & bass drone speed along much faster than Bono's get in-and-get out shouted vocal verse but the fury gives way to a crystal chorus as zen as the cover art.

It's an alien of a song. If only all of the album was this daring and beautiful.

I like this album but I love this song.

If you download just one track, give your .99 to iTunes for this one.

With thanks to NLOTH lyrics blog, here are the NLOTH lyrics:

I know a girl who's like a sea
I watch her changing every day for me
Oh yeah, oh

One day she's still, the next she swells
You can hear the universe in her sea shells
Oh yeah, oh

No, no line on the horizon
No, no line

I know a girl with a hole in her heart
She said infinity's a great place to start
Oh

"Time is irrelevant, it's not linear"
Then she put her tongue in my ear
Oh, oh

No, no line on the horizon
No, no line
No, no line on the horizon
No, no line

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh

The songs in your head are now on my mind
You put me on pause
I try to rewind, love, and replay

Every night I have the same dream
I'm hatching some plot, scheming some scheme
Oh yeah
Oh

I'm a traffic cop, Rue du Marais
The sirens are wailing
But it's me that wants to get away
Oh
