And now I'm back from outer space.
A pronounced 'hey' to all of my good moggers everywhere.
Life happens, it really happens & then it really happens some more. Still is. This gig of mine sometimes feels like busking and it's got me on the move again. Proud to be working in the home state of so many of my idols great and small. Bruuuuuce! Kevin Smith, House (?).
Let's get down to it.
Tycho is an electronica artist I was introduced to by an also-talented Drum N Bass dj I work with. Tycho's lp is Sunrise Projector. I would compare it to chill Moby tracks and less kitschy (whatever) Boards of Canada. Simple, elegant, bliss-inducing beats.
Mars Volta's Frances the Mute finally reached my ears and I enjoyed the indie-proggy bad-assness that filled them.
BRMC 's Baby 81 is really f'n good. This is a band that has found its bearings and reconnected with its namesake vibe. Ice cold bluesy motorcycle rock. Conjures up images of desert sex in leather jackets.
Haven't been able to fully absorb Wilco's new one yet but I'm looking forward to doing so this week.
I had free XM radio until last week (2 wks total) when they figured out the error. Ethel & Lucy are great Alt/Modern Rock channels. And speaking of radio, 88.5 in Princeton is a great little station playing tons of MOG -friendly tracks.
I look forward to visiting Sopranoland, the Jersey Shore & NYC soon as well as Philly. I'm in an area with a lot to offer musically and I look forward to hearing it all.
NJ moggers, say hey if you like and tell me what's really up in the Garden State.
MTV 's The State was/is Hilarious. Every member is a rock star in my book (one was at one time, kind of). They're like the Sonic Youth of Sketch Comedy.
Groundbreaking, edgy, absurd and light years ahead of it's time. Various State member projects have included Viva Variety, Stella, Reno 911 and this, what may be the greatest comedy film ever made - Wet Hot Ammerican Summer.
Their next film, The Ten, is coming out soon (limited release). Enjoy.

Tim McWho?
I wonder how Ryan Adams feels about the erroneous credit given to the guy who covered it last. And I wonder if he approved of its use to begin with.
Here's to the original. Here's a video. It's the original NY, NY edit dubbed over, kind of weird.

I love this show. I just wish they could clear up the legal process and put it out on DVD already.
Yeah, I hear it's still going to be awhile.
Bootleg DVDs through eBay are the way to go until the official release.
Well, you can download from iTunes and Amazon too.
