Wedding Cry...

So, I know it is lame to quit posting and then post a request, but here I go......As many of you probably know, Mr. Steve Simon and I will be tying the knot on the 2nd of June this year. We are currently in the music selection part of the planning.....needless to say this is where the request comes. We are trying to think of great boogie tunes, nice slow jams, great classics and a father daughter dance song (my dad and I are struggling with this one....he wants perry como....I do not). Thus, if you hear my cry and could offer some assistance, it would be greatly appreciated. I promise to post something new and interesting soon!Cathy

    Kate says I am going to 4 weddings this year, and all my friends have asked me to help with wedding mixes. I suggest some good Brazilian music by Caetano Veloso and Bebel Gilberto, the excellent Rhino Records funk+soul comp: "What It Is: Funky Soul and Rare Grooves", and as far as the father/daughter dance, how about "Simply Beautiful" by Al Green? It's not one of his songs that gets overplayed on the radio, and it is incredibly pretty and nostalgic.

    slrevare says There's a great instrumental by John Coltrane and Duke Ellington called "In a Sentimental Mood" which would be a great father/daughter song. I like it because it's an instrumental and you don't have to worry about all of the lyrics matching everything about your life. :-) It would be good to play the original or have a band do. It's one of my all-time favorite songs. There's got to be a Van Morrison song out there you could use. Polly and I danced to Moondance as our song. What a treat that was. I'll keep thinking of others...
