I wrote this on my livejournal in a caffeine-fueled stupor last night. . .the nice thing I've discovered about hopped up on Red Bull is the things you say don't get any less true in the morning:"You know what is also really great is the new Jimmy Eat World song. It's so epic and self-assured. It's got such classic rockstar swagger and yet every time I listen to it, I still get this sense of 'look at us! we formed a band!' It's very sweet, in my opinion."To which nearly everyone who survived reading the post replied "what? they're still a band?" Yes! Apparently they are. Or this is what the radio tells me! Anyway, I dig the song. I was listening to the lyrics proper this morning and I noticed that along with it being totally cocky, and at the same time totally adorable, they've also got a bit of the good old fashioned rock star regret going on that's so popular with the ladies (or just me. See: The Bravery, "Time Won't Let Me Go"):Well there’s lots of smart ideas in books I never read//When the girls come talk to me, I wish to hell I hadI had the great desire to scrawl that everywhere today. And I live near two schools, so it would have been hilariously inappropriate.Anyway, I've just realised I don't have an mp3 of Rihanna performing with Fall Out Boy, so I'm out. Enjoy the song.
