Not sure how nobody has mentioned or uploaded this song... Ocean. I can't do it justice so do us both a favor and just listen to it below. It's a 10 minute guitar solo where John just has magic fingers. Just an incredibly beautiful song.

If you haven't see the JBT live it's quite the treat. I've been lucky enough to see him at large venues as well as small (250 people) venues and he never ceases to amaze. His bandmates are equally impressive (although not demonstrated on this track). Enjoy!

So thanks to some help I was able to convert a few files into mp3 form. As I mentioned below, Roll My Blues Away is my favorite album of his. This is the opening track. Enjoy.

How nobody has posted here I can't understand. The Word is a pet project of John Medeski (of Medeski, Martin, Wood). His goal- create an all instrumental gospel album. The players; The North Mississippi Allstars, a 23 year old pedal steel slide guitarist named Robert Randolph and Medeski.

The resulting album is incredible, dominated by a ridiculously talented Randolph. He grew up playing in the church and he is arguably the best pedal steel slide guitars in the world. (I personal find his earliest work the best as he has been going more "poppy" over the years).

Many songs are remakes of classic pedal steel songs (for a more traditional take on these songs check out "None but the Righteous," another incredible album organized by Medeski.
