Twisted Coil

Posted over 1 year ago

A batch of CD's arrived today, the first of 2 shipments that resulted from the gift I gave myself when I received my annual bonus from work.

To celebrate, I of course cranked up the Mcintosh (amp) and played the first few songs from Guilt Machine's CD "On This Perfect Day." And from that I have to advise any of you out there who have been caught up in the white wire frenzy that is iPod, "put them down!" Listen to that sound system in your living room, or wherever you have it stashed.

I dunno. I guess I'm naive, or maybe I've been white wired too long. All I know is that this exquisite sound and production was "music to my ears."

Tomorrow, perhaps a lengthy listening party with me and my ears and Mr. McIntosh.

All that aside, I would rate the production which was written, recorded, and produced by Arjen Lucassen (gonna do a research project on the guy soon) a masterpiece!

Here I present one aspect of that, the music and lyrics. It's rather one dimensional when played on the PC, but you get the "picture."

Vocals - Jasper Steverlinck (Arid)

Lead Guitar - Lori Linstruth (Stream of Passion)

Drums - Chris Maitland (ex Porcupine Tree)

Electric, Bass, Mandolin, vocals, acoustic guitar, keyboards - Arjen Lucassen

This draws you in, swirling, enchanting, now rocking out, flowing.  If this is any indication it's gotta be agreat album. Leaves me wanting to hear more! Thanks!!

u r right, cap. This kind of listening (computer, compressed mp3, headphones) is truly not listening at all. More like sampling. Good music is meant to be felt and heard.

    whats a bonus?

IRF - a bonus is a bunch of money calculated on the basis of how we did personally and as a company in the oprevious year. They're usually pretty good, and besides paying bills, I bought myself a small truckload of CD's.
