I remember listening to FM radio and the Troggs "Wild Thing" late in the night under the covers so my folks wouldn't know I was still awake. The song has been covered so many times, and the tune always grabs me.

Fast forward 20 years to Monterey. Just as good as Woodstock in my opinion, but with less of the ground breaking free for all culture that made WS the legend it became.

Good thing the poor guy didn't try and make his living just through his singing. But combine the unmistakable cool of the guy with the sultry voice that was his alone, and the obvoius love affair with his guitar, one handed or two, and you get a demonstration of the real wild thing.

It's always good to go back to the roots of it all now and then. And if it ain't your roots then there are a lot of great surprises waiting there for you.
