WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Take A Breath

Posted about 1 month ago

The constant reaching for the new, the more wonderful, more exciting experiences leads us down many paths, often leaving other precious memories as forgotten ones.

When it comes to music, each new song that we take to heart as our own and that we associate a life piece against, and every new artist that we excitedly come to MOG with for our show 'n tell, becomes a new piece of our chemical pavement and a road more travelled. Until another comes along.

And every now and then we remember that there's a closet full of those moments ready to be relived, revived, remembered and restored.

I look at David Gilmour as one of Progs grand masters. And not only of Prog, but of a whole generation's worth of dark roomed parties, Saturday afternoon FM countdowns, and weekend concert experiences. With the unmistakeable sound of his voice and his guitar style, he brings music that never gets turned off, walked out on, or skipped.

And he's worth remembering now and then.

The following cut is taken from his concert "Remember That Night" played at the Royal Albert Hall in May 2006. Tour band members included Phil Manzanera, Richard Wright, Guy Pratt, Jon Carin, Steve DiStanislao, and Dick Parry. (the sax player on DSOTM)

Special guests included David Crosby, David Bowie, Graham Nash, and Robert Wyatt (founder of Soft Machine)

The DVD is well worth the bucks. That concert will take you to the Island that's for sure.

Here's a cut from the DVD.
