Let me just comment on the lady in my life. This is one who rescued me from drugs and despair many years ago, and still goes out of her way to make my life pleasant, with many times that being an undeserved reward. A few years back, she got obsessed with Prog Rock while I was bouncing all over the country trying to keep food on the table. During that time she introduced me to Porcupine Tree, Kino, Spock's Beard, Neal Morse, Pure Reason Revolution, and a host of others. Many of the CD's that she brought into the house gathered dust as they waited for me to give them a listen, and it's only recently in some cases that I've discovered the jewels of music she purchased. She knew that I love good sound and theater, and over the years she's built a system to rival any of my friend's. It's neat going into a Computer or high end A/V store with her because the macho testosterone sales guys always start out paying attention to me, and always end up scrambling for the latest tech magazine to check if what she's told them is correct. She loves doing research, and while as a guy I'd often just rather buy something based on price, the pursuit of quality AND price that she pursues has resulted in some sweet components. These days she's working on leveling up several characters in World of Warcraft. She made it to the game's highest level months ago and now simply wants to learn more in a guild that desires to make serious progress. She doesn't see WOW as a game but as mental exercise that can keep her sharp. We raised two boys, both of whom have asked us (her in most cases) on occasion for opinions on one band or another. She's been known to surprise them by pulling out the CD they're just discovering.Today she made a comment that our peers, as far as interests go, are the kids in their late teens or early twenties. Most of our friends our age simply don't get the things we do. One that comes to mind is the snowboarding that we took up when I was in my early fifties, and she was....well....younger. :-) She's one in a million and she lives in my house. I am, A Lucky Man.
