Sometime in the distant future, forensic archaeologists will be sifting through the remnants of uncovered hard drives and servers, and come across the word MOG. They will have already been familiar with another ancient term, "blog," have rolled their eyes and kept searching for something with relevance that is more defining of the age under scrutiny.
Will it be "MOG?" Who knows? It's a term and activity that for most on the planet even today does little more than raise questions and mild interest once explained.
But something that Poebegone said to me in a response to a recent post got me thinking about the uniqueness of MOG vs Blog. Blogs invite writers. And everyone thinks they're a writer, so Blogs invite everyone from housewives to famous novelists. MOG, on the other hand, offers an opportunity to not only write, but to combine the source of one's musings with the music that also drives us. A unique combination requiring a unique talent to merge our points of view with song that can best express it.
To wax eloquently, or not so eloquently even, and then to find just the right tune for accompanying the thought, is a creative talent that far surpasses the ability to build a blog page and write daily drivel for all the world to ignore. It means that a whole additional side of the human experiment be exposed. "Look world! I have interesting thoughts AND there's a connection between those and the accompanying orchestration I have playing in my head."
Indeed, on that day yet to come, the relevance of "MOG" is dependent upon those of us here charged with revealing the creativity and potential to show an intelligence that hopefully defines us as civilized and peaceful creatures.
We continue to emerge.

I like this for the following reasons.
You've don it again Cap. Wonderful song. And I still say MOG is about the music.
ah, the aforementioned Oceansize! Not bad, cappy.
I do like that last line.
I agree with Wiz. I would not blog and did not before becoming a Mogger. I enjoy those who have the gift of great story telling or writing, but I'm mainly here for the music I can share and discover in this community of believers.
Yet another new artist to my ears, cap. Good track.
good song ... interesting post! :)
Wiz and Rex - you make my point. Some moggers want to write. Some want to listen. Some want to post words. Some want to post music. Some want to wax about both. We're all in this thing together, or, as Red Green would say, "Keep your stick on the ice."
Chuck - glad you like. I hadn't forgotten.
Madrid - you were first. congrats!
Suitable music for us civilized and peaceful creatures
That was a cool tune to float on..I usually start with the song and build out. Usually it is about hearing a tune, liking it, and finding a reason, hook, theme to fit it into. Nice post.
I don't look to MOG to discover new tunes (although I find many), I do it for the interaction..and to get a few things out there.
Yes! Eloquent, succinct, and thoughtful. That's what it's all about.
