WHERE THE HOKEY POKEY "IS" WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT

What do TI and Dance Music have in common?

Posted over 3 years ago
The answer would be: Crystal Water's "Gypsy Woman (She's Homeless)". Since I copped KING earlier this year, I've been loving the Why you Wanna song, and have known there was some crazy sample in it...my carpool buddy is big into Dance and Electronica, and he was convinced it was a Terrence Parker song...me, being the music encyclopedia that I am, felt it was Crystal Waters, maybe that 100% Pure Love song...but I wasn't sure. After some further digging, it turns out I was closer to being right! Remember that annoying "La Da Dee, La Da Da" song??? The keyboard riff is sampled in TI's song!!! lol. Check out: Crystal WatersAnd I still love Tip =)

  1. Jess Horrible says When did this album come out? Crystal Waters rocked my world when they did 100% Pure Love, it was one of the first electronic-based songs I'd ever heard... but are they still around?

  3. richiesteelo says I've heard lots of people dismiss this song as just another syrupy and boring hiphop/r&b track for the ladies, but frankly I love it. Why? Because I was a fan of the original, which I think most of the naysayers are unfamiliar with. And how can you not love Tip channeling the original Tip, Q-TIP, on the chorus. Hate on this track...why you wanna go and do that girl huh? THAT MASK IS SCARY!!!!

  4. camillionz415 says “Now why you wanna go and do that love, huh? Making things from me towards you harder? Killing me, just when I think we there…” ~The Original Tip, aka Q-Tip =) Richie Steelo, you said everything I think about this song…thank you for expressing my thoughts. As far as this video...the mask, and everything else about it is mad frightening...ugh, the '90s, lol. Did anyone ever see the In Living Color skit making fun of this song?? I'm sure it's on one of their DVDs that came out recently...
