So me younger brother turned me on to this Prince/Gnarls Barkley/Stevie Wonder standard issue;" late Saturday Night House funk special of a night cap with a stranger"- mixed drink. Truly funky , truly dance able and funkier than the junk of a meat lovers pizza I left in my trunk.

You know the main thing I am taking away from this blog entry is that Captain Kirk's new nickname is "the Shat." Nice work, Cam.
I think I heard this once and it made me vaguely nauseous, so I'm not pressing that play button.
Manchester Orchestra ( great name btw ) is a five piece out of the suburbs of Atlanta , Georgia. I first caught these backwater indie darlings on the live broad cast from Coachella 2008 last month. The band is a moody kind of corn gazers with a good dose of brit rock to keep the swagger full and in view. Or for the comparative crowd ; it sounds like David Bowie and Brian Molko singing with a super group of REM , early Allman Brothers and The Verve backing them up on a Southern Porch out yonder drinking white lightning from a jar. Poppily beautiful at worst , wave crashingly textual at best. The songs here are from 2005's 'Nobody Sings Anymore' and Im like a 'Virgin Losing a Child'. The song "Brother" is an 'Annuals' song.

That is a cool player from mixwit. Liking what I hear so far. I caught a few songs by these guys on my way to see Duffy after seeing Shout Out Louds at Coachella. They were pretty loud & I have to say I wasn't really feeling them live, not quite my style really. Thanks for the recorded songs & the post.
no problem there Aug , yeah they were on before Portishead and I was fartin around the house cleanin stuffs and I literally stopped what I was doing to watch them , great stuff so far- im in search of their proper full lengths now...

hahaha , funny you should say that , his wife is from Greece - and his name is Christopher and his band , as you know sir is called 'Beatropolis'...so voila! ( he is gonna be in Greece next month in fact - lucky bastard!)
