David Bowie was said to have called them the greatest new band he has heard in Conde Naste ; he and Alicia Keys asked Jason if his band could play at their benefit 'BlackBall' for Africa... Jason toured with the Dixie Chicks in 07 as a tour guitarist and drum tech... remixes songs for neo punk heavy weights The Bronx ... wrote a remake of the song Flash Gordon and now its now used as the Sci Fi channels theme song for the new Flash TV show...and to top all that and more the band managed to get banned from ever playing in the great backwards state of Alabama before ever stepping foot in it after a Hoover High School reniged a free show invitation because of indecent acts and lyrics ( were they even gonna play a free show just because they were invited I ask you all... ) leading to the rumour that L XIV were banned in Alabama ... with the icing on the cake in my peepers as Joshua Homme and Brody were name checking and embracing them at a NME awards show a few years back. Holy multi talented producer guitarist , bassist , drummer , songwriter and singer Bat Dude! I mean and on top of that they have produced , on their own 3 or so EP's and 2 LP's- all to the raging pens and greasy keyboards of major and minor critics alike? What else is he gonna do? Im gonna watch and find out kiddies cause I have a feeling he is just getting started ...with roots firmly in the San Diego scene and some in Paris , while staunchly rejecting major label meddling I dont think(barring O/D or plane crash) we could be looking at the next big thing. If you havnt heard Louis XIV you can pretty much pick up anywhere as all their EP's and LP's are solid and have a sort of Regal come Glam come Dirty Faced come Whisky and Cigarettes feel while walking the lines of sexual dynamos and perversion with the grace and skill as a cat on hot tin roof with epilepsy ( thats a compliment ) ...but if you must start somewhere and I do suggest you get started if you have not...its with the new album Slick Dogs and Ponies out this past January. Its full of the rock and roll swagger , the cheap thrills , hard luck , dirty sex and god damned balls out rock tunes you honestly cant scrounge up from even the biggest arena acts or gutter bands around these days. I have a feeling this Jason Hill guy is gonna big , son...BIG.
