WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah....

I'm the type who is always late to the party. I come when it's sort of a moot point to still try and "arrive"... I know this about myself and I'm cool with it. That's why I can admit (and in public, no less) that I've fallen in love with the alt-rock wunderkinds Bloc Party. I picked up this CD because it was recommended in several interviews by the members of Duran Duran (shut-up, ugly commentary is not necessary). Of course, I promptly shelved it, though I did remove the cellophane wrapper (more so I wouldn't be tempted to return it than anything else). So, months later... I'm in a musical rut. I've played UTIOG into the ground, there is still no forthcoming new Duran, my post Xmas dollars are short, and my last buy (30 Seconds To Mars) was nice but not heartily satisfying. So I'm poking around the shelves looking for things to listen to and what to my wondering eye should appear? You got it.Now, I'm thinking: "I'm an idiot!" and "Duran are brilliant for pimping this fine musical product." and "What the hell was I thinking listening to UTIOG for months on end, when sitting on my shelf was this beautiful piece of musical genius?"Late, late for a very important date. In the meantime, these boys have put out another record. Yes, I'm going to buy not having heard a single track off of it. Yes, I'm going to their show next month without having any idea of how they sound live. I'm hooked. Completely. Really, I like it that way. Music should sing, should soar, should shake your heart's foundations. Bloc Party have put cracks in my pavement. The nice, good, soul stirring kind. I <3 Duran for the intro. I <3 Bloc Party for being worth the intro.Cheers!
