these days, i can't keep up with all the different genre names and classifications.  seems to me, we need to stick to what kind of drum beat does it have - rock?  hip hop?  jazz?  techno?  reggae?  does it have a country twang?  ok, that's enough categories.  : )

Among the first things I would NOT do, if I heard this out of the blue, as I just have, is to cubbyhole it.  I like it, and am curious to hear more.

I think I have a basic grasp of the terms math rock and prog, and this sounds worlds away from either to me.

The beat makes me want to move, and the vocals are pleasantly daffy.

As genre, I'd suggest "novelty song."

i fuckin love battles :D i've always considered them math rock for simplicity's sake but i'm sure they suit a million other genres too. when they play Atlas live, the singer plays guitar and keyboard and sings at the same time, so impressive!

i dunno, it feels more towards math rock to me and nowhere near neo-prog (as allmusic suggested, but then they are always a bit off with their genre labels).  i'm just insane enough that i like to categorize things down to the smallest particle - suits my ocd.  but regardless of genre (or subgenre for that matter), i just love this band.
