i am in love with sufjan's 'ring them bells'!
looks like a good list, and looks like i'm going to have to check some of them out!
I like the 'most played' rating system, although it of course favors things that have been out awhile. Do you reset Itunes on Jan 1, or what? Near as I can tell by scrolling way the hell down my last.fm listings, my most played song that's come out this year is Caroline by Pierced Arrows. Beyond that just isn't worth the trouble, although I love the new Alejandro Escovedo and whatever emerges as my favorite from that should hold up all year.
I love best of lists, btw, someone else's tastes/research as jumping off point. Although I suspect yr too sensitive for me, A, I know we've got some tastes in common, so thanks for this.
ardy, i wish i could've found vids of the other songs but there wasn't anything on youtube. i generally don't like dylan covers but that is fucking phenomenal.
rob, my musical tastes do tend to hover around the indie spectrum, with the occassional dip in the angry rock end (see: nin, et al.). i never worry too much about reseting itunes or anything. some computer-related horror usually strikes me once a year forcing me to reinstall and retransfer in all my music/documents/games/etc. just so happened that i had a catastrophe on jan 8, so it kinda worked out that way :)
