This old man I've talked aboutBroke his own heartPoured it in the groundBig red tree grew up and outThrows up its leavesAnd spins round and roundI know all this and moreSo take your hat offWhen you're talkin' to meAnd be there whenI feed the treeThis little squirrel I used to beSlammed her bike down the stairsThey put silver where her teeth had beenBaby silver tooth, she grins and winsI know all this and moreSo take your hat offWhen you're talkin' to meAnd be there whenI feed the treeThis old man I used to beSpins around, aroundAround the treeSilver baby, come to meI'll only hurt youIn my dreamsI know all this and moreSo take your hat off boyWhen you're talkin' to meAnd be there whenI feed the tree

  1. caliscrnwrtr says so, i was listening to the radio tonight on my way home from work (something i never do, because goddam the radio stations in LA suck ass - except indie 103.1, which just gets better and better every time i tune in.) and this song came on. i haven't thought of belly in at least 10 years but how i used to love this song! it's been on repeat since i got back and tracked down their eps and cd "star" that were buried in the back of my cd collection. i'm a happy, 1990s kinda girl.

  2. caliscrnwrtr says and, can i just say, i can't fucking wait until 90s clothing comes back in style. peasant shirts, dresses with doc martens, and oversized leather jackets with lapels that threaten to eat one's face for everyone!

  3. dermahrk says I like this enough to ignore the fact that they are on the cover of that magazine. Thanks!

  4. caliscrnwrtr says yeah, i hate rolling stone, too, but for very different reasons. last year they randomly decided i had a subscription, and then wouldn't cancel b/c they couldn't find my subscription. and now they're sending me letters demanding i pay the remaining installment for next year's subscription, even though i don't have a subscription, never wanted one, and never paid for half of one.
