   laura27 says Sacha Baron Cohen singing?! lol. Well I haven't got round to seeing the movie yet, but generally Tim Burton can't put a foot wrong with me. The only thing I'm a bit anxious about after listening to the songs you've posted is the slightly dodgy cockney accents, but that's only a small point. I take it Danny Elfman wrote the score?

   caliscrnwrtr says no the score and lyrics are written by steven sondheim. he wrote the broadway musical "sweeney todd" is adapted from. the musical itself is borrowed from an old play which in turn was borrowed from an old victorian legend about a barber who killed people. and the cockney accents aren't supposed to be accurate. when helena sings about her horrible pies, the song, the words, the accent are intentionally bad. sondheim himself approved depp and helena, so if he's ok with them, i'm ok with them.

   laura27 says ahh, they just sound typically Danny Elfman-esque lol. and if the accents are intentionally bad then that makes it all so much better . i'm looking forward to seeing it - it's testament to just how attractive Johnny Depp is that he still looks great while dressed up as a homicidal barber.
