So yeah, I cheated on my top 10 bands, but I'll go for real for shizz on this list. Here's the 10 songs released in the Oh-Seven that filled my musical world with shiny moments. And yes, this list is highly subjective. And if you're smart and in touch with your inner Freud, you'll be able to deduce exactly what kind of psycho I am based on my musical interests.1. Iron And Wine - "Resurrection Fern"
Whenever this song comes on, everything stops. Sam's done it again. He's gone and created something so haunting, so gorgeous, so death-inspired, so love-broken that it makes my icy cold heart melt. 2. The National - "Brainy"
You know, as far as stalkers go, I'd be ok with The National following me around.3. The White Stripes - "Rag And Bone"
Possibly the slickest, complex-ist, rhyme-iest lyrics of the year.4. The Plastic Arts - "I Will Follow You Into The Dark"
Most of you will have never heard of this or the next band, but that's ok. Let Auntie Alex introduce you. Moggers, this is The Plastic Arts. Plastic Arts, these are the Moggers. Now everyone play nice...5. Rilo Kiley - "Silver Lining"
O, how I've missed Rilo Kiley. My life just isn't the same without Blake Sennet hovering in the background with that silly Rudolph Valentino-esque moustache. And shame on you Jenny Lewis for not appreciating him. You're little Watson Twins side project is fine and all, but stumbles next to The Elected. What? Don't give me that look. So I'm madly in love with Blake Sennet and in turn am insanely jealous that Jenny Lewis had him and I don't. So sue me.6. Modest Mouse - "Fly Trapped In A Jar"
Why do I love this song? "Our bodies were laid out / They were laid for fifteen yards / Well two feet above each of our heads was a fly trapped in a jar / Well I hadn't noticed but the people really noticed that they really didn't want us around / So every single one of us fed the ground". That's why.7. War Stories - "Rage"
They wrote this in retaliation for Sony manipulating their sound and then pulling the plug on their album. And trust me, when you see them play this song live, it's pretty obvious that they still harbor some pretty intense grudges against Big Music. 8. Nine Inch Nails - "Capital G"
Picture this: a broke 20something with a shitty car with even shittier stereos blasting this as she pulls into her parking space at the art museum she works at. Yeah, motherfuckers, I'm hardcore. 9. Against Me! - "Thrash Unreal"
Every time I hear this song i think of Dorothy "Dorizzle", a 40something stripper who is the sole drunken, cookie-baking, sex-crazed fan of War Stories (yes, the same band listed above). She's trapped in the 1980s club scene and I don't think she'll ever get out. Plus, this song makes me wanna jump around and smash into people and scream at the top of my lungs.10. Ingrid Michaelson - "Breakable"
Zach Braff did it again. How he finds these amazingly talented singer/songwriters is beyond me but every single one of them is fucking phenomenal.just missed it: Project Jenny, Project Jan - "320"Arcade Fire - "Black Mirror"Matt Pond PA - "Last Light"Fall Out Boy - "This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race"Feist - "1234"
