WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

C'est La Vie: My iTunes library

Posted about 1 year ago
I come to you on this joyous of holidays...Actually, isn't Valentine's Day now considered almost universally to be a rather cold practice in corporate greed, and other such un-romantic topics? Well, regardless, I say that you shouldn't spit on a reason to celebrate, so celebrate we shall. Or, at the very least, let's have a lil' chat.First off, in rather embarrassing news, I have discovered that the most played song in my iTunes is no other than B*Witched's "C'est La Vie". For those of you who can claim a comfortable ignorance to this song's existence, worry not, because I have got a video (lucky you!! :P). That's right. Out of everything ever recorded in the musical world, C'est La Vie, a forgotten "gem" from the 90's, is the only song to get top honors on my iTunes. Unfortunately, dear readers, they tell me that great taste is not contagious. Sorry. Sometimes there's just not enough cool to go around. On a less sarcastic note, does anybody else find the lyrics strangely suggestive and ill-fitting of this seemingly innocent tune? How about "I'll huff, I'll puff, I'll blow you away", or the slightly more direct "I'll show you mine if you show me yours"? Not to mention the kid that they are seemingly attempting to "seduce" looks to be about 12. Where's Chris Hansen when you need him?Oh, and lastly, but perhaps more importantly, I should explain why C'est la Vie, is my top played track. Well, first off, my computer is a youthful machine, under one year old at the moment, meaning that my iTunes library is only a small snapshot of a lifetime of listening habits. Secondly, you play C'est La Vie in a room of college kids, and the room turns into smiles. While B*Witched were never quite A-listers, they gained enough fame to implant a few happy memories into legions of '90's kids. And it's always cool to see said kids, many of whom have grow into fashionably serious little indie kids, break out of there shells and laugh a little.
