Gloria Stuart's I Just Kept Hoping

Posted about 1 year ago
At the moment, on my off time I've been reading an obscure little book called, "I Just Kept Hoping". It's the autobiography of actress Gloria Stuart. If her name doesn't ring a bell, don't worry, you're not too out of the loop. Despite Stuart's rather lengthy resume, most of the films she was in are obscure 1930's B-movies. In more recent times, Stuart's had a bit more success, specifically her role in a little film called Titanic. By the time Titanic reached theaters, Stuart was in her late 80's, yet her performance as old Rose still brought her brief fame, and even an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress. So, in wake of all the 1997 Titanic hysteria, Gloria Stuart (with the help of her only child) wrote down her life story, and titled it "I Just Kept Hoping".It's a decent read. She stays away from the deep stuff, merely hinting at the tough subjects like an abortion which later caused a leg infection, her brother's alcohol troubles, and the rocky sides of her marriage. Instead, Stuart gives us an overload of details regarding her numerous parties, including guest lists and detailed descriptions of the nights' dinner menus. Is it worth reading? For all of you that care about Gloria Stuart: yes. But the majority of the world's population should skip it and move onto greener book-scapes.Speaking of Titanic...:P

  1. Hacksceptic says It sounds like an interesting read, and can I tell you a little secret. I generally can't stand Celine Dion's music, but I have a grudging respect for that song. Guilty pleasure? Ok yeah I admit it.

  2. bubbleslives says haha! Yeah, it's not a bad song, just incredibly uncool (esp. in 2008), and incredibly easy to poke fun at.
