The ‘BEST’ CD’s for 2007 (Part 1). TAMPA BAY BUCS, LOCK for NFL Week 15

Posted about 1 year ago
Tampa Bay Bucs Cheerleader Britney. These are my TOP 10 ‘BEST’ CD’s for 2007 (Part 1) (1.) SLOAN - NEVER HEAR THE END OF IT – This cd has some of the eclecticism of The White Album, yet it flows like Todd Rundgren's deliberate head trip, A Wizard, a True Star.Hear ‘ANOTHER WAY I COULD DO IT’, ‘ILL Placed Trust’, ‘People Think They Know Me’, and ‘Who Taught You To Live Like That’, by ‘SLOAN’ at http://sportsblognflbybubba.podomatic.com(2.) QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE - ERA VULGARIS - One of the best rock & roll records released in 2007 — and the year sure needed the dose of thunder that this album provides.(3.) NINE INCH NAILS - THE YEAR ZERO - Year Zero is the finest Nine Inch Nails recording since Downward Spiral.(4.) THE FOO FIGHTERS - ECHOES, SILENCE, PATIENCE & GRACE - A 12-track milestone that showcases and reconciles the band's every strength and sensibility in the most complex and confident Foo Fighters album to date. (5.) KINGS OF LEON - BECAUSE OF THE TIMES - If Alan Parsons lent the Allman Brothers his spaceship, Because of the Times would be the resulting space odyssey. (6.) IAN HUNTER - SHRUNKEN HEADS - Ian Hunter has always been a true rock & roll believer. And it's what makes him still capable of delivering an album this timely, this fearless, and this good.(7.) STEVE VAI - SOUND THEORIES - Sound Theories, Vols. 1-2 seems to be the beginning of a post-guitar-hero career for Vai, and it makes a good start in that direction.(8.) FEIST - THE REMINDER - The Reminder, will remind you that Leslie Feist's success is no fluke, as the album contains more of her same introspective lyrics and chords. (9.) STANLEY CLARKE - THE TOYS OF MEN - Clarke and his troops slash and burn in a way that often recalls the early fusion of Return to Forever.(10.) GARY MOORE - CLOSE AS YOU CAN GET - Close As You Get showcases Moore's exceptional talent as a guitarist and is one of the finest blues and guitar albums released this year. (BONUS) THE EAGLES - LONG ROAD OUT OF EDEN - An album meticulously crafted to fit within the band's legacy without tarnishing it.And now to NFL Week 15. I Will Not pick Detroit over SAN DIEGO at SAN DIEGO under any circumstances. I also Will Not pick St. Louis over GREEN BAY, at St. Louis, not this year. However, I am picking the CLEVELAND BROWNS at home over the Buffalo Bills 27 - 17 as my Bonus-LOCK instead, also covering the -5.5 points as the favorite. My double Bonus – LOCK this week is the VIKINGS over the Bears 26 – 20. In my 50 - 50 games I’ll take NEW ORLEANS over Arizona 26 – 20, covering the -3.5 point spread as the favorite and PITTSBURGH over Jacksonville 20 - 17. And my Fake – Out for NFL Week 14 is Miami over Baltimore 20-19. Huh? And now, should I lose on this pick, you’ll, ‘NEVER HEAR THE END OF IT’, My stone cold LOCK for NFL Week 15 is the: TAMPA BAY BUCS over the Atlanta Falcons 30 – 13 (covering the Spread as the -11.5 point favorite)PS. BUB ’S STATS FOR THE WEEK NFL Week 14 Straight up: 13 – 3 REGULAR SEASON LEADPIPE LOCKS: 12 – 3 BONUS LOCKS: 9 – 5 Fake – Outs: 9 – 7 Fifty – Fifties: 21 – 14 Will Nots: 21 – 6 Spreads 13 – 15 Overall Regular-Season Record Straight up: 141 – 67

  1. darmuzz says It is fascinating to find a year-end list here without The National, The Arcade Fire or Arctic Monkeys!

  2. deadmandeadman says On the other hand, Ian Hunter & Stanley Clarke probably won't appear on a lot of others' lists which means their lists aren't complete. Ian Hunter's "Shrunken Heads" is the album(cd) we have long wished he'd make, confident balls to the walls rock n roll. He's earned his stripes and he wears 'em proudly here. Good call bubb. >And Stanley Clarke? My god. The Man has been reborn, rejuvinated, his crystal visions expressed in exciting colors of shifting hues and blazing brightness. Certainly his most vital recording in a decade and a half. Excellent call, bubb. You're wrong about Cleveland though, Bills all the way. >there's radio buzz to the effect that the Ravens have given up. We'll see Sunday. Meanwhile,on the Patriot front, a local radio station is offering rubber rats to fans as they enter the stadium, tickets for SRO are $225.00 and they're gone! The weather is supposed to be cold, sleety, icey, you know, Patriot weather!

  3. dermahrk says I'm from Philly, and I love the Eagles. The new CD, that is, not that sucky football team.

  4. deadmandeadman says How does one respond to that?

  5. dermahrk says Might I suggest "thank you, o wise one, may I have another?"

  6. deadmandeadman says First of all, let me proudly boast; Over 2000 store bought cds AND NOT ONE FRIGGIN EAGLES CD! That whole California Sound was junk, with the exception of Warren Zevon, who only makes the list by default. Second of all >One who has not reached a level of sophistication necessary to appreciate the intellectual, philosophical, brutally beautiful world of Football in general, the NFL in particular, cannot possibly add anything of value to this conversation. Nowhere in our culture do the Yin & Yangs of life play themselves out in such majestic inspiring ways. Brains and Brawn, blood, sweat & tears in slobberknocker smashmouth battles of will. There's nothing in the world like it. I understand that some have not seen the light, and you, poor dermahrk, are among them. Pray to Rockne for the gift of understanding. Or, if you're not religious, down a sixpack.

  7. dermahrk says I would rather pray to those cheerleaders. They keep me coming back to Bubb's football postings.

  8. bubb says Darmuzz, & I hope that is a good thing. That I don't have The National, & Arcade Fire on the list. However, I will have the Arctic Monkeys 'Favourite Worst Nightmare' on my Next Weeks Honorable Mention 11 thru 20 for 2007 w a Bonus list. I also had the 'Arctic Monkeys' in my top 10 List last year. Deadmandeadman, Thanks for the Kudos on Ian Hunter & Stanley Clarke. Atleast I got 2 right, ha ha ha ha. Can't wait to see that Bills-Browns game Sunday. Should be a close one either way. Now, I'm also debating whether to play Jabar Gaffney in Fantasy Football due to the weather forecast for tomorrow up in Foxboro. Dermahrk, I'm also an Eagles fan and a Joe Walsh, Don Henley fan as well. I hate to admit that I'm a Philly Eagles fan as well, especially this year.

  9. dermahrk says How are they doing? I have no friggin' idea. Ok, this is where I should exit the conversation, because I obviously have nothing to add to a conversation about football. So don't humor me with a reply. Thanks for the pictures, though!

  10. deadmandeadman says Scottfree hasn't checked in yet. I hope his Bengals beat the Forty-niners. (The Patriots own San Fran's first pick in the draft, currently the second pick overall, it doesn't seem they'll 'catch' the Fish.) bubb, you're right, The Browns and The Bills are both headed in the right direction. It should be a good game. Start Gaffney, he's gonna have a great game.

  11. bubb says Thanks for the Gaffney tip, dmdm. He's been of fire. I'll go with it. Just was concerned about the weather, snow, gusty winds, etc.
