this album has been criticized by many people because of ltjs downhill horns decline and very polished sound, but i think that it turned out very well. i just saw them play the warped tour and they sounded amazing.at first this album sounds like crap but it grows on you as you listen to it more.soundtrack of my life 8/10:at first i didnt like this song when it came out,and i didnt think it would be a good opener but it has become one of my favorites. one of the things that makes this album great is the order of the songs.having this first was a risk but it paid off.a still life franchise 9/10: now we hear the horns and roger's sweet basslines, and this sounds great right after 'soundtrack'.someone once told me that empathy was the key to writing anything, and when chris says "im gone, im gone, whoa oh whoa oh", i swear it feels like you are on a bridge ready to kill youself, but you are already emotionally dead. this is an example of a song that keeps growing on you until you like it.overrated 7.5/10: catchy chorus, great lyrics, but it just gets kinda annoying after a while. despite what they say, its a ton better than shes gonna break soon, and its a ton better than any of the fake emo crap on MTV that manages to get major label deals. its a good song for beginner fans, but realize theres much more to ltj than this.fall apart 8/10: i may be somewhat biased towards roger because i play bass, but he is the reason that this album is better than mediocre. at first this song was insanely catchy with the simple but great verse and pre chorus. the chorus is where the song flaws, being somewhat uninspired, but its still a great song.in-dependence day 8.5/10: again, song order makes this great. right after hearing a pop-punk fast ballad of sorts, you get to this jumpy song that roger also sings.its not the most amazing song but it makes you want to jump and feel happy and hyper inside.don't fall asleep on the subway 7/10: this is my least favorite song of the cd. its interesting and kind of inventive like green day's warning, but i dont really care for it. at the beginning it sounds like chris is trying to pull off a beastie boys style thing, and the chorus is mediocre. in some ways it reminds me of magnetic north off borders and boundaries.landmines and landslides 7.5/10: the way dont fall asleep doesnt get stuck in your head, it makes this song sound better. most people cite this as the worst track, but its just becuase ltj never really tried to do a song blink-182 wouldve done. overall, though, it doesnt turn out half bad.rest of my life 9/10: i liked this song from the start, and despite the pop sound its an amazing song. this is what a punk rock ballad should sound like, and like always vinnie does an amazing job with the lyrics. this is probably the most heartfelt and memorable song on the cd, like it or not.from here on the cd is almost flawless and deserves to be its own EP.mostly memories 9.5/10: rogers next to last great song on this cd. its catchy, musically more than just three chords, and uses the horns and synthesizers to their best.one of my favorites from the cd.let her go 9/10:people wanted less than jake to play more ska influenced stuff, and this is what they got. its almost sounds like a cross between losing streak and borders, and it works.the song is jumpy enough and the chorus flows so smoothly from the verse that all 2 minutes and 23 seconds are worth hearing over and over againhopeless case 9.5/10:continuing the theme of being lost and never really finding your place in the world, this song stunned me. dont listen to the punknews.org review saying chris does his best to poorly imitate bryan adams.this song is more alternative rock but it is great. if it was fall out boy, it would be number 1 on the billboards.if it was green day it would win a grammy. but its ltj, and im perfectly fine with this being a great song that has that major label sound that is beneficial for this song.ps shock the world 11/10: this song represents all that ltj has done since they started so many years ago.the horns are great and have a kool kinda jazzy line. roger comes in and at first i thought i was hearing coheed and cambria, but then he establishes himself.unlike fall apart, roger sounds more pumped up than ever as the song goes into a losing streak like pre chorus and an anthem/borders powerful chorus.this song should go down as a classic like gainsville rock city or all my best friends are metalheads, but in a different way. this song has the punch, inspiration, and upliftiness(take that stephen cobert) that defines what ltj is and how they have left their mark on the punk community.
