John Frusciante Could've Been in The Bee Gees

Posted about 1 year ago
Seriously. Can someone wrangle John Frusciante and throw him in a white jumpsuit, a la the Gibb brothers? His cover of this song inspired me to buy the Bee Gees greatest hits on used vinyl. Are any of you familiar with some of the classic oldies he's covered? Fierce. Fierce.

  2. brittanybf says ha! that's what i thought too. not that kiedis isn't talented, but compared to frusciante, how could he be anything but envious? haha.

  3. Jo says Actually, most recent pictures show JF to have more of a Cat Stevens (big beard!) look ;) I love JF's solo falsetto intermezzos, I think my favourite is still his rendition of Donna Summer's "I Feel Love" (with Flea playing that great bass line). AK jealous? Nahhh! Larger than life, alright, but thankfully never that bigheaded to express misplaced sentiments of feeling bigger than the band. Bless!

  4. brittanybf says ooooh I gotta peep that Cat Stevens look. Sounds great! I wasn't too big a fan of the Donna Summer one actually, perhaps because the video I watched had horrible sound and I'm not familiar with the original...i wasn't too sure what was going on. hhaha.

  23. Dr Locrian says That's a pretty impressive cover. Have you heard the Bee Gee's very early stuff? They're first 2 or 3 records (especially 1st) are very very good Beatles-esque psychedelic pop.

  25. astronot says That's cool that you're into John F.'s solo stuff. Off topic, slightly, but you should check out his side band Ataxia--they have some pretty awesome stuff, but it's slightly druggy/experimental..think Public Image LTD.

I like this one - actually saw him play it live in San Diego when the Chili Peppers got back together for Californication.

Here's a much younger Frusciante performing one of the best:

yeah I know, but it's supposed to be an embedded file of Frusciante performing Tiny Dancer back to back with an incredible solo. Bummer - not sure why the Homepage was imbedded instead.
