Last night I shot BB gun. They called me Lucy Liu.
The 90's were cool. There were shows where gangly teenagers could invite sweet musicians into their disco-balled bedrooms and ask them to perform. The video above happens to be Cibo Matto's debut appearance on Squirt TV, which had moved from public access to MTV at this point.
And below, here's Jake just kicking it with a couple of people maybe you've heard of, Mike D and Beck. They just shoot the shit and talk about kangaroos, dancing, showgirls...
In case you're wondering, Jake Fogelnest is still around. @jakefogelnest

Know Your Chicken is a huge hit at my house -- plays well to the under six crowd.
I remember this song! Is she still w/ Sean Lennon or is that long over?
I used to love that show, and thanks for the Cibo clip. They were regulars at CB's Gallery in NY during a very cool period, with other bands like Medeski, Martin and Wood, Dan Zanes and Soul Coughing doing weekly shows. I miss 'em!
The predecessor to Squirt TV as far as a cable access show making waves in the music world was "The Uncle Floyd Show", which I was also addicted to. It was a children's show for adults with nasty humor and great guests that included The Ramones, Bon Jovi, Cyndi Lauper, Squeeze, The Dead Boys, John Mellencamp and many others. David Bowie actually wrote about the show on his Heathen album and played a video when he did "Slip Away" live. It was a great escape!
I like how he talks about the internets..I was not a part of the internets then..it seems like 20 years ago not 13. Time moves quickly. At least MTV's shows had some kind of relation to music then..
Haha, T Jay. I can imagine it must get them riled up.
Eric: I don't think she is dating Sean Lennon anymore because Sean Lennon was just on the cover of a magazine or in a photo shoot reenacting the John/Yoko Rolling Stone cover. The person with him was his girlfriend but it was not Yuka Honda.
Robin: That show sounds cool. I'll have to look into it. Glad this post could bring you back.
Cody: The '90s seem like just yesterday. I would've been staying up late watching this and 120 Minutes.
I think I broke up with MTV in 1989, so I missed all the fun. I guess it wasn't meant for I, anyway.
