New Modest Mouse Vs. Modest Mouse 1997

Posted about 1 month ago

I saw this Modest Mouse video last night and was floored by the amount of special effects. It's been a while since I listened to anything new from Modest Mouse because I could never get into anything post-2000 from them. They may have lost me when I started associating one of my favorite songs "Gravity Rides Everything" (The Moon & Antarctica) with "hip" moms riding around in Nissans.

I'll always prefer the sloppier Modest Mouse that encouraged you to dance and go crazy, a time when they didn't have money to even make videos at all. Enjoy this fan-made video and pretend it's still "Summer":

So we're drinking, drinking, drinking, drinking Coca, Coca-Cola I can feel it rolling right on down Oh, right on down my throat And as we're headed down the road Towards tiny cities made of ashes

Catchiest lyrics of the new millenium.

Talk about coincidence, just as I pulled your post up MM started playing on my WMP on my puter w/'It's All Styrofoam Boots' off of 'Lonesome Crowded West' from 1997! How strange is that?

I haven't been able to get into the latest MM either. Disturbingly strange yet cool vid to the first song though.

    brittanybf,

I really don't why, but when I saw the words "Modest Mouse," I couldn't help but think, "Is this a cartoon series I missed out on when I was a kid?" Then plotlines started to come up in my memory banks before it became apparent that 1)I was remembering Mighty Mouse and 2)it became VERY apparent that it was a group, not a cartoon character! I think I need a cup of coffee!

    Yours truly,

    musikfriend

Man, I still haven't found anything they've done after Lonesome Crowded West as appealing. Give me nothing but spite, Isaac Brock!

oh, LOVE Darjeeling Limited. saw it in the theater when it came out. such a cinematic experience, so glad I saw it on the big screen! unfortunately a relationship i was in came to an end after seeing it but that has nothing to do w/the film, lol

Well, it did take me awhile before I saw it again, so it did sour me for awhile on it. I love the short film before the main film w/Natalie & Jason too.
