Vast - April

The new album "April" - available for download at www.realvast.com is a return to the pop sounds of Music for People. However, unlike that album, this is much more stripped down. It is a good batch of songs that didn't get ruined by bombastic ambition (IE - much of the Nude album). It says on the website that this album was recorded in one take, and it shows. What it lacks in polish - which Vast always had some to spare - it sounds the most authentic album of their career. It is also the most mellow of the career.This album had two returns from the new album - "Be With Me" and "Can't Say No to You." Stripped down, you get to hear what truly great songs they are. I recommend this album to people who prefer U2's Joshua Tree over Depeche Mode's Violator.(3/12 out of 5 stars)
